How To Make A Fresh Start In Your Career Journey

Are you happy with your current career choice? If you are working for someone and would rather work for yourself or if you are just working in the wrong career it is important to STOP right now and take a self- assessment.

In Simon Sinek’s book Start With Why it is geared towards inspiring leadership to understand that people will not buy into anything that is being sold, an idea, a product or even a movement until they understand the reason “why” it exists. Much in the same way, you won’t be inspired to do your best work if you are not clear why you are even doing it in the first place. If money is the primary factor I can almost assure you that you will not be happy in the end with your choice. There must be a bigger reason for you to be on your chosen career journey. Life Hacker has shared these 4 ways to figure out how to choose what you want to do with your life:

1. Where do you want to be in five years? - This is a question that many of us are asked during a job interview and on the fly, we come up with a response that sounds good to the interviewers’ ears. This is a great question to ask ourselves often so that we can stay on the right path.

2. What is your life motto? - Do you have a statement that when you die you would want to be listed on your tombstone? I know that sounds heavy but really it is a good way to stay on track that you are living your life with intentionality. My life motto is to use all the gifts & talents that God has given me to lead others toward him. period.

3. Do some volunteering. - You can do good and figure out if a chosen interest is something that you would like to pursue further as a career choice or leave it as a hobby.

4. Take a closer look at your hobbies. - Is there something that you would do for free as a hobby that could become the next step on your career journey?

These are challenging times but you can use it as a time to regroup and make a fresh start towards choosing a career path that helps you to fulfill your life’s purpose.

April Is Here - A Great Month For A Fresh Start!

The month of April is here and it marks the beginning of warm weather (if you are in the warmer climates) and fresh blooming flowers.

It is also a great time to make a fresh start in your career journey. The challenging times that we are currently living in leaves many of us with a variety of questions. This is a great time for self-reflection and brainstorming what you would like your ideal life to look like so you can start to live it.
