It isn't easy climbing the ranks to rise to the top. But what if you never try and you just settle to be second best? I think you would be cheating yourself and the world...yes the WORLD. Don't laugh.
This is no laughing matter
Think of it as going out to buy an amazing gift for someone special and then you fail to deliver it. They never got a chance to enjoy it.
Powerful words spoken
Nelson Mandela said it best at his 1994 Inaugural speech: " Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our lightness NOT darkness that frightens us. Actually, who are we NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does NOT serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us....it is in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give the other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others." This speech was titled "Choosing To Be The Best." Yes, it is a choice. You can choose to be THE best or to play small and be second best. Which option will you choose and why?
Be Do Have!
Is it possible to quit your job and sell your belongings to move to some far away place in order to start living your dream? The answer is yes. All you have to do is visualize it. When I was little I ordered brochures of all these amazing vacation locales. The brochures started coming in droves and my mom wondered what was going on. I can remember thinking to myself one day I will travel and see Paris and London and it won't be just pictures in a brochure. For a little girl growing up in Detroit that probably seemed far-fetched to some but to me it was real.
A Dream Realized
I went to Paris & London during my junior year in college with a friend and it was awesome. I thought about how I used to dream about going when I was a kid and it came to fruition. The same can be said when thinking of quitting your job to move forward toward your real life's purpose. If you can just get quiet and start brainstorming what it would look like to be doing what you always wanted to do then start to take small steps toward that dream then life will move out of your way. Where would you go to start your new life and live your dream?
Be Do Have!
This week seemed longer than usual. Tough deadlines and restructuring of goals. Are you ready for it to be over so you can get to the weekend? YES! I can hear you saying it loud and proud "Thank Goodness It's Almost Friday!" Well....what if you didn't have to say or think this anymore? I know what you're thinking....here we go again with all this feel good positive hippy stuff! Ha! WELL.............................................................You're right!
Here We Go and Nothing Has Changed!
I recently heard someone quote Rami Sethi a who basically said "A year from now you're going to be a year older what are you going to do?" I thought this was a simple question with big meaning attached to it. So what if you could stop living in your own version of Groundhog Day and say goodbye to pushing yourself through the work week and toward the weekend like it's a get out of jail free card? What would be your new battle cry? Maybe something like I am so tired but I love what I am doing and I am so happy. I don't know. Just a thought because I truly believe anything is possible if you're willing to push past your own limitations. Say hello to doing something that makes you feel like everyday was a Fun Day...like Friday!
Be Do Have!!
Your checklist is getting crossed off and goals are getting met. Then life hands you a curve ball. What do you do? Scream, Yell or Retreat? Well there is one more option. Swing. When life has your back against the wall you can come out swinging at it like Mike Tyson. It ain't over until you give up so keep swinging and you will come out on top.
Be Do Have!
So we all like things that are familiar, our homes, our family, our comfy beds, favorite foods and yes our jobs. WAIT! Did I just say that we like our jobs because they are familiar? Yep! We may "hate" our jobs but deep down inside we "like" that our job is there, the paycheck is steady and our bosses & co-workers are tolerable....if you are so lucky. Right? Well if your dissatisfied with this "lifestyle" and can't figure out why.....keep reading.
Living Life In The Sleep Lane
Many of us are mad at the world and less than happy because we are not even awake. We don't say hi or acknowledge our neighbors and we walk around the halls of our jobs saying "hi" or "good morning how are you doing today" to our co-workers only to see them five minutes later and say the "hi" and "good morning" script all over again like we are robots. I know you have done this. I sure have so much that I had to chuckle at myself and go grab a cup of coffee. As funny as it is this state of mind turns into how we live our lives day in and day out. We run on the 9-5 treadmill, squeeze in a minute here and there for our friends and family and we leave nothing for ourselves. How are we suppose to get "unstuck" if we are walking around ignoring our own thoughts, feelings & desires? We will never get there.....UNLESS...we wake up and become fully present in what we are doing, thinking and saying. Only then will we begin to take active steps toward living the life we truly desire. This is a charmed life where we love our jobs, make great money and use all of the talents & skills that we posses. Your worth it.
Stop.
Take a deep breath!
And spend some time alone dreaming without limitations. It's fun & free.
Be Do Have!
Do you ever sit and daydream and wonder what it would be like to go to work and enjoy your experience of sharing your expertise and receiving high praise from your boss? Then you top off your day by going home and diving in head first to "the thing" that brings you so much joy. Wow! This sounds like heaven right? Your probably checking your pulse to see if your still alive! Well this could be your life if you simply create it.
Here are a few people that decided to take the road less traveled and create their own piece of heaven:
Nick Unsworth
Rosetta Thurman
Scott Dinsmore
Natalie Sisson
So you see you don't have to be Brad Pitt or any other type of celebrity to live the life you want. You just have to go out and create it. What does your ideal work & lifestyle look like to you? Don't be shy. Sharing is caring. :)
Be Do Have!
Have you ever had a day when no matter what you do it seems like nothing goes right? So you start to get frustrated and down which seems to bring even more negativity your way. In contrast, have you had a day when you start off saying positive mantras or prayer or just meditate then you go out into the world and no matter what happens it doesn't seem to put you in a blue mood? Well I know I have.
Mindset Matters
The difference between the two days is my mindset. If I start my day on a positive note and move accordingly throughout my day living intentionally in a positive state then that day gets marked as a "good" day. But if I roll out of bed stumbling through my morning with confused thoughts........guess what....my day is filled with chaos and nonsense. So Henry Ford said it best "Whether you think you can, or you think can't your right." Let me know how you deal with negativity and what tools you use to get back on track.
Be Do Have!
The only way to get to your goal is to put one foot in front of the other and keep walking toward it. I know that it seems like your never going to get there or that your goal is a moving target. I can't tell you how long it will take to reach your goal but what I know for sure is if you stop you will never get there. Wouldn't it be a shame for you to realize that you were arms length away from your goal but you stopped short of it. I know your feet hurt but keep walking.
